Lynn’s New CD – The Kitchen Sessions!

This recording was made at the end of the global pandemic. We had the luxury of time, silence, reflection, and blue unpolluted sky. It was an ideal time to make quiet songs to honour our infinitely long friendship, since 1989. Dave Restivo and I share the same birthday, twenty years apart. Having made it through all the Drama that Life provides, I had come to a very peaceful and calm place. A point of reflection and comprehension of what matters. I chose songs that embody my personal philosophy: Love, Music and Family.
My dear friend Bob Dorough encouraged me to sing his song “Nothing Like You”. Kim Parker did a masterful job on “Not Exactly Paris”, so I sing it for him. “Out Of My Life” came to me via Joey de Francesco, driving in the dark, radio on, with tears on my cheeks. Randy Newman’s “Rain Today” exemplifies our casual disregard of those suffering … right in front of us. “Crazy Love” is my song for Rob, my loving partner …
This recording is dedicated to my four grandchildren, Taylor, Zoe, Jake and Avery. Listen to the words in “Throw It Away”. It is my counsel to you, now, and when I will be gone.
Yes, there is a Steinway in the Loach’s kitchen. John and Patti Loach made Dave and me feel so at home. I really did not want to watch a professional studio clock. I chose, rather, to discuss these songs with Dave and fully pour my heart into this project. John and Patti, many thanks for the cappuchinos, your patience and your love of songbirds.
Thank you to Big Black, the Steinway with the vast bottom and sparkling top end.
